Annette Douglas

Annette Douglas lives and works for textiles, for design and innovation. Her special ability lies in her twin competence, design and engineering. Since 1999, she runs her own company Annette Douglas Textiles with a small team (www.douglas-textiles.ch). She is winner of prestigious awards like Design Preis Schweiz or Best of Best Red Dot Award. Annette Douglas has dual British and Swiss nationality and is the fourth generation of her family to work in the textile industry.
Since 2004 her focus lies on textile concepts, on the sense of hearing. Meanwhile, Annette Douglas Textiles is the brand for acoustic textiles solutions. That is why she invented the CTI research project in 2009. Annette Douglas carried out this research project in collaboration with the EMPA (Federal Laboratories for Materials Science & Technology) in her capacity as the initiator, project manager and commercial partner. The first translucent acoustic fabric collection Annette Douglas Textiles ACOUSTICS® is since 2011 on the market.
Annette Douglas has a great affinity for architecture. During her studies she already developed and designed textile façades and other textile applications for architecture. Today she can point out a number of buildings with textiles that were tailor-made for architecture, for example the University Campus Toni Areal in Zurich, the Rehab Clinic Schinznach, the UBS Head Office Zurich or the Baroque Pavilion Stockargut for the University Zurich.
